After i got my fuel gauge working it was saying half full then it was nearly full. Did a search and found the thread that explains how to adjust the float and how far people were getting on a full tank. Running late this morning, looked at the odo thought, nearly 200kms... yeah I'll get some on the way back home (20km round trip).
After work I got in the car, turned the key and let the fuel pump do it's thing... hmmm, that sounds different! Should be able to make it to the petrol station. Started the car anyway and off I went down the driveway... splutter splutter... *crap* was my thought... said to myself "yeah I'll make" and kept going out onto the road... splutter splutter... *F%$K* was my thought this time
Luckily a friend was there to give me a lift to the petrol station... I think I bent the float arm a little too far 
I now have a 5 litre fuel container in the boot. Funnily enough the container is made by "BMW Plastics Pty Ltd"
