Post subject:  Remote and Magic Wand Linkage Bushes

Are the bushes that are in the diff housing and gearbox case on a remote and magic wand box replaceable?
If they are, then how do you replace them?
I'm guessing get a machine shop to pull the old ones out, push new ones in and then ream to size?

I get them out by screwing a 9/16" UNF tap well through one, then I put a bit of 10 or 12mm steel rod in there and hit it straight out.
Screw the tap into the other bush and repeat.
If you don't have a 9/16 UNF tap, a 14mm spark plug one will do.
If you don't have either, just put the rod in there at an angle, and hit the bush out- but there isn't much to tap against due to the size of the hole through the housing. If bushes are real tight it's not that easy...

No need to ream the new ones after fitting, they are thick bushes, already finished size.

So to fit them just tap them in gently? and job done? They aren't porous bronze or anything funky are they?

Is it the same for the ones in the gearbox housing?

And it is a total of three bushes, correct?

And that should be my last question

Readily available from most sellers of mini bits.

Two on the remote case. I'm not sure if there is one the same size where the linkage enters the gearbox housing proper.
Like doc said, easily removed and replaced with the engine out of the car. Improves the gear change on a remote markedly.

No bush in the gearbox casing where the seal is, but it's swamped with oil so doesn't wear.

These bushes are a standard 1/2" bronze bush, you can get them from Blackwoods or other engineers supply houses.

And if you don't have a tap the right size you can do what I did and use a big fat easy out - just screw it in and knock ot out from the other side as per the Doc's instructions
