Last drive of a Mini was about 14 years ago. Still have lot's of bits 'in the shed' and have bought bits over the years with the intent of 'putting all the bits into one car' at some time in the future. Finally started working on it this weekend after deciding not to wait for retirement! Have a '72 clubman, Mk 1 "s" motor, plenty of other good gear, but will need more - will post some pics later (when I work out how to!!). For now I would appreciate if someone could post a pic of an engine on an engine stand - have a mental block and just can't recall how they hang off the stand! And sorry for taking up your time, I know there are pic's like this elsewehere on the forum but I haven't been able to locate one. |

In regards to your Engine stand question, this is the best way I have found. http://www.coopertune.com/adapter.htm I mount mine from the oil filter holes. Gives you access to pretty much everything when building the motor. Welcome back into Minis

Here's mine- with the 1412 stroker on it. I mounted it to both the filter pad and the alternator bracket holes. IMO it's dangerous to just use the latter, by the time you have it all together with the box there is 150kg hanging on 2 pissweak little cast iron lugs... and cast iron is brittle stuff.

Thanks Guys. Will be out in garage in evenings this week making a bracket as per pics, and will be using both the filter pad and the alternator bracket holes - was concerned about the look of the one hanging off the altenator bracket. (Funny how you get a bit more cautious as you get older!) Will also get some pics and post them up. Have to correct one thing - block is 1100 'S' (thin flange, no tappet covers), not Mk 1 S - must have sold that one off sometime ago - not sure what this one has in it as far as crank and rods etc go. |
