Years ago I had a jel product called 'Naval Jelly' - brilliant stuff - big 1 litre tall plastic bottle - never seen it since
I think I bought it at one of those swap meet/ market type stalls from a 'professional' stall owner.

I was thinking of purchasing some rust removal paste that you put on leave and then come back and wash off. I browsed around on google and the only thing i can find is the POR-15 DE-ox gel ( ie http://www.ppc.au.com/corroison_gel.htm) Does anybody elso know some alternative products ? I would rather treat the deep surface rust than POR15 paint over the top and hope for the best, and im not game to get a sanding disc onto it Thanks Brenton |

the naval jelly is basically phosphoric acid. same as whats in most rust converters i believe, just weaker portions. Alot of the U.S hot rodders use naval jelly i think, thats where i read about it and seems to do what you want to do. Personally im sandblasting it to get the rust out, but as you said you dont wanna sand it so im guessing you dont want to wreck paint. |

No i have taken pretty much the whole exterior back to metal with a wire brush, however the brush can remove some of the heavy surface rust but stil leaves it browny looking. and sanding might take too much off (the metal i mean) thanks for the navel Gel link i will se what they can do |

i could suggest one of those small sandblaster guns you can get from super crap then, i dont know if you would need to worry about removing too much metal, a bit of high build primer or bog done properly and it would look fine i think. personal opinion anyway. |
