Why oh why do people advertise a car then not answer there phone!??!

(only got advertised on the net Monday) Left 2 messages and about 10missed calls over Monday evening and Tuesday.... then get a call this morning saying that their phone had been playing up, but a guy had called this morning and they promised them first go!!!!

How the FLIP is that right!?!? So annoying! :x

Probably turn out to be someone off here...Moke in SA Trading post!

Arrange to go see it anyway, and if it's what you want make them an offer before (if) the other prospective buyer turns up

I made arrangments to buy a moke - rank up & said I'd buy it unseen, gave them my mobile number, picked up a trailer & was at their door about 2 hours later. Then they tell me someone else has just been around bought it. WTF!? That really hacks me off :x

That's Nothing mate!
You should have been in the game in the early Eighty's when about 20 guys would turn up at about 5am on a Saturday morning to buy the Cooper S which had been advertised in the Saturday paper, usually for between $200 and $750. The argument about who was going to buy it was always fun considering all we wanted to do was take them home, pull them apart and sell the bits!
You could guarantee that there would be one every week and that you would meet up with the same guys every time! Lots of fun and still have a lot of those guys as friends today.
I'm sure my old mate Matty Reid could tell you some stories Too!!
If your guna play the game, learn to play it right!

Dave

Sounds like SHE is an expert at selling cars
May need to take that into account - most people don't sell cars all that often, and consequently don't have much experience. They also probably regard it with much trepidation when they do so, due to this sort of reaction. It doesn't sound like she went out of her way to stiff you, it just happened.

Hmm, I can sympathise here.

When I bought my Anglia, I had called and called and called over the space of about two weeks, and in the end had left some fairly firm messages on their answering machine. When they finally called me back, they said they'd called someone else before me, and would give him first shot. So yes, I was pissed off. But in my case, the other guy turned it down, so he rang me up, I arranged payment and shipping from Victoria, and the rest is history. It's still my favorite car purchase - the one that was just what I was looking for, sight unseen.

It doesn't all end in tragedy, but it does suck sometimes. It's hard for one person who is selling one car to understand the passion and frustration behind how much you want something. Makes me think of the 850 I tried to buy recently... *sigh*
