have a crank marked ..a298 on one end and on the other end just (4a) :o the stroke works out to be 3.2" small main brng size as per 998/1100. could this be a cooper 997 crank? machined down at the very end to take an early coil spring type flywheel being 1.3/8" taper ? yet the parralel size for the primery gear is the same as mini deluxe 998 .k 1100. 988 clubman :? has enyone seen this strange setup before ? some intrim idea from bmc to use up small taper flywheels i dunno ?

12A298 is Cooper 997 crank with deva bush primary gear. 12A 375 is earlier 997 crank with oil feed bush.

I thought the 1-3/8 bore primary gear was only ever used on early 850... :?
