Yep, I've got an 8 valve 1293 one in the build... Not much progress yet though, too many other projects to distract me!

Is yours a 16V or 8?

Curious to see how many more are underway in the Ausmini community!

If I could work out how to put pic on this thing I would but .......

The engine I am building is a 1399cc 1100S block with 1100S large journal crank offset ground to make it a stroker so it should be around the 1550 mark if I can get the crank finished if not it will just be 1399cc.

8 valve dry deck clod water in through the water pump then through the block then out the rear of block into a heater core with 2 elec. fans of a computer out of that then back into the rear of the head and out the front through a fabricated outlet pipe that has a thermostat out of a outboard motor inside.

There is about 14 or so of my conversion kits sold throughout Australia at the moment,,, some others went overseas,,, i only have 2 kits left of the first batch

Good to here you`re a happening thing John,,, can`t wait to see it all fired up & running, heaps of the other guys are already well underway also,,,

we even have a few guys shoving them into Morris Minors & Austin healy Sprites :-)

i`m keeping in touch with all of them,,, (John--> Justfanginaround can vouch for that :-)
but i won`t name any other names till they`re ready & happy for me to sprook their details

I have 4x twinkys on the go here at the moment, one is in that moke with the turbo on it & 3 are being built for other customers (one of those is displying his build on the moke forum) ,,, plus i`m doing at least 2x for my own cars (when i get the chance here & there i might get an hour per week on them :-( ) & keeping another 3 for spare engines to play with (R&D & spare race engines)

I`ve just bought a K1200 which i`ll shove ontop of my old 1510cc engine :-)

My partners in crime (my off siders) Stewy & Archie are also doing one each

& i might even build one for my dad for his mini marcos when i`ve finished with all these

Go on John,,, whack some pics up mate :-)

To the OP, it would be god if you could post up total cost when its up and running. Just so people (like me) considering buying one of Matt's kits can get an idea of what we're up against.

Conversion Kit $1250
8v cyl head $350
Mods to top of block & head & fly-cut pistons $500
Oil hose & "T" piece fitting to feed the head with oil $65
Make up breather/oil drain/oil filler $50-100 depending on how flash you want it to be
an extra thermostat housing, some hose & some hose clamps $50
modify left hand engine steady bar $50
extractors, or turbo manifold & dump pipe is $450

Pistons, crank bearings, oil pump, gaskets & seals, a clutch kit, gearbox overhaul parts rad clean out, water pump etc , & engine build labour costs are simply all the same as per std mini engine build

An Inlet manifold plenum chamber to run either a carby or single throttle body fuel injection will cost about $350

If going ijected then an Adaptronic sequential computer is $750 wiring it all up & tuning can cost up to about $1500

if adding a turbo then you`ll be spending about another $1400 for athe latest model you-beauty Garrett ball bearing jobby :-) & you can spend from $50 upwards to $1000 for a decent intercooler

If anyone would like to check the costs of the mods to the engine block then ring Cooparoo engine centre here in Brisbane as they`ve done them & have another 3 blocks of ours there at the moment being plugged, surface milled, re-drilled & threads tapped.

So , comparing to a std mini engine build--> it`s about an extra $3500 plus whatever fancy stuff you want to add along the way...

You could spent $35,000 easy enough if you wanted too tho,,, just buy a K1200, have it fully worked with larger valves, ports & cams etc, stick that ontop of a big bore block with long stroke forged crank, custom con rods, forged pistons, Straight cut close ratio gearbox with limited slip diff, lightened flywheel & back plate assy, grey diaphram, button clutch, romac alloy harmonic balancer, alloy rad with electric water pump, fit up a T28 ball bearing turbo with fully mappable sequential engine managment system & all the goodies like cam & crank angle sensors & coil-over ignitors etc etc etc, spin it to 10,000rpms with 25lbs boost & have close on 300hp if you`d like :-)

or you can just do a little small bore cheapy with carby & dizzy & spend about $3500 all up doing most of the work yourself.

This is just a rough guide , exact costs will vary depending on your own particular engine build specs & who does the work for you.

drool over the thought of doing that to my car
998cc 8v head( with a 1100 crank lol)
light fly wheel
single throttle body injection(is that possible on a 998?)
engine fully Balanced and GR High comp pistons
gearbox with SC gears 1,2,3. syncro 4th (i can do that hey)
diskbrakes

The quad throttle bodies come on the cyl heads already so it`s easy,,,

the only reason i would go single throttle body is for turbo application (& it`s more of a room issue than anything else)
