Gotta love a well sorted Mini.. driving home tonight, some oncoming idiot m***erf***er turned right through a red arrow at speed, crossing just in front of me. Didn't get time to think about braking, all I could do was swerve hard across two lanes and back to avoid getting nailed.

Any other car and I reckon the paramedics would be picking airbags out of my teeth right about now... that would have been a BIG smash.

Thanks Mini, owe you one

I know the feeling, just 2 months ago, I had to steer off the road Italian Job style at about 65km onto the grass centre lane to avoid me rear ending and getting rear ended because an idiot decided to change lanes without warning! Good to hear your well.

I reckon they must have seen the main light go green (with the arrow remaining red) and just gunned it.. they came around blowing the horn when they saw I wasn't going to stop.. took them a lane and a half to stop themselves, then sat there in traffic wondering 'WTF'...

I normally drive expecting others to surprise me with dumf*ck maneuvers, but had my eye on my wife's car a couple of hundred metres ahead so I suppose I could have spotted them moving a fraction of a moment earlier if I'd been more alert.

One thing I always do though (traffic permitting) is NEVER stay alongside another car in the next lane, for exactly this reason...

i use that rule as well, but its hard when your stationary and some dumb nut has stopped right up your ass and the other has stoped on your left... your boxed in..
