Post subject:  mag rubbing on caliper
I've had the set up running for a fair while now but today I got new tyres put on and when I was refitting the wheels to the car I realised the front mag was rubbing on the caliper. I have already ground the caliper down for clearance and it worked fine on the mag that was on that corner but now they have been rotated one mag is rubbing.
So should I let the mag rub or take some metal off the mag to clear the caliper (seeing as the caliper already clears the other mags) or should I take more off the caliper to clear this mag?
These are the mags I'm running (ROH 10x5's Nb style) with 7.5 inch Cooper S discs.

I`d be inclined to clearance/machine the mag en,,, the "S" calipers can get a little brittle around the area that gets ground off & some do tend to break away a bit where the nipple fits,,, a little too heavy handed bleeding the breaks & you`re in the poo

maybe touch up the inside of the mag with a die grinder or angle grinder , but i`d rip the tyre off & machine it all neatly :-) probly only needs a whisker off it

Those ROH Contessa mags were just cast not machined inside, so they are all a bit different thickness.
I have one on my car that took 60g of weights just to balance the WHEEL (no tyre). :lol:

No that's what I originally thought until I looked under the car and it definitely is the mag. I might give the 4" grinder a whirl tomorrow.

Better idea is to put it in a lathe and machine it there properly.

I fixed it up by pulling the mag off the car then using a die grinder I took off a bit of metal where it was hitting, marked it with chalk and refitted it to check, then did it all again until it now spins freely. It only has around 1/3 of a mm of clearance at the worst point and the side I didn't touch clearer's by around 3-4mm :? .
If I had the facilities and the time I would pull them all off and machine all 4 on a lathe inside and out but this should do the trick :D .
