Post subject:  60's Australian made hi-los

discussion point on another forum came up that some manufacturers in UK got around a patent by one of the others for their "new 90s" design hi-los by referring to an Australian made version from the 60's. The question was about what providence there may have been that this design was actually made in the 60's.

So does anyone have any old brochures, magazine ads etc that show an Australian manufactured hi-lo (probably not under that brand though) of the type that has a nut and lock nut to effect the adjustment?

much appreciated

Nothing in the way of paperwork but I have an ancient pair here that I got from the ruins of a speedway cooper that last raced in the early 70's , I'll get a photo later out of curiosity to see if they are the type you're talking about .

I bought a set of front alloy adjustables (with two locking nuts) from Fairbairn Bressington in 1972 (became Fabre Aust). They used to import a lot of Special Tuning parts, but these were locally produced. I had them on my Mk 2 Austin Cooper S for many years, they're now on the Minivan. Simple way of adjusting the height, though you really have to take the wheel off.

I seem to recall they were advertised in Racing Car News around that time - Eric Fairbairn used to take out a full page add in that popular monthly magazine showing what was for sale.
