I've had a few minis come with black parcel trays, and a few come with white.

Can anyone tell me what colour the parcel tray should be for a Mk2, and which models had a differnt colour to white (if any)?

I also thought all MkII were black, but that is before i learned that some MkII had non-black interiors. I would say some of the different colour combos had white. What colour is the rest of the interior?

The Mk2 and the Mk1 parcel tray and speedo panels are the same colour as the trim . Black trim = black parcel tray trim ....blue trim = blue parcel tray trim , white trim = white etc etc etc .
The confusion comes I think because most Mk2's had black trim ....but NOT all

The top and bottom rails are always black ( Cooper)

AJ is spot on.

Also note MK2 boot boards are always black. MK1's in trim colour.

Hey Mick - are you talking about the front parcel shelf or the one behind the back seat?
I've never seen a white front shelf. The MK II S I bought new in 1969 had blue interior which included blue front parcel shelf. All other MK II S's I've seen had a black front shelf to match their black interior.
I assume the same applies for the rear shelf - i.e. same colour as the seat upholstery?

Nah the rear one behind the seat. Yeah I was comfortable with the rest being upholstery colour, I guess it was an obvious answer really but the white never looked out of place back there...

In fact a white rear parcel shelf wouldn't look too out of place because the white headlining material extends down the rear pillars and across the back under the rear window.

I have seen a white front parcel shelf on a MKII. It has a white interior. I was told that it was a special order, but now that I know that MKII's weren't all black, this may have just been what came normally from the factory. However the car is aubergine in colour (from factory), which I don't think was a standard S colour.
