Hi everyone,
I know there have been some topics discussing this in the past but I'm looking to buy in the next couple of days so I thought I would check for any updated info.

I'm after a compressor for home use, mostly want it to spray. I want a belt drive unit preferably.

I'm considering a 2.5HP SRT Air one that Repco has at the moment for $399 with lots of accessories or open to any other suggestions up to this price.

Cheers

there good little blow around type of compressors, not quiet up to the job for painting the 3hp belt drive is an alright option, if you are after a good sprayer, id look around for some 2nd hand belt driven bad boy from an auction house (usually mechanics or spray painters wanting to sell off the old so they can buy the new... or something like that anyways :P )

I wouldn't buy a used one from a panel shop or factory, but if I wanted to get a good air compressor I'd go to the trading post (or ebay) and find a big one a private seller is ditching.
If the motor is a dud whack a new one on, the rest should last for ages.
I have a 20 year old AMG one at home, big bugger too (twin stage compressor), and all it's ever had in its life was a new belt and capacitor.

:D

yeah supercheap have a cheaper direct drive type under $200 however their belt drive is $499 which seems too much from Supercheap.

I dont really have time to get a 2nd hand one at this stage.

Thanks for the comments.

Nah, I rang them earlier and they said 499.

I might go to a tool shop and grab something a bit better I think.

Cheers

Chinese brand ones are the cheapest because parts can't be sourced so will only last upto the warranty expires then not worth getting anything fixed on them.
If you are not using it everyday or very often just get a chinese one. But if you want a good one, go for McMillan or Ingersoll rand or an australian manufacturer. Parts are easy to find and are made to last.

have to agree that you should buy the best and largest one you can afford, if you ever intend to paint or use air tools the smaller ones will do it for a while but not for to long
