I have just been outside fixing my car. It suddenly started leaking fuel from the hose on the jet on the SU HS2 that comes from the float bowl. The hose is only a couple of years old, it came with a carby kit that I fitted a while back. Last month I filled the car with E10 as there was no regular unleaded at the servo. So one tank of E10 and the fuel hose rots? Or was it about to fail anyway? All I can say is bollocks.

Had a very similar problem with 2 older fuel injected vehicles. Hoses went hard an started leaking plus the injector seals on both cars leaked. E10 is crap. |

I used E10 for over year without a problem. Haven't used it recently as I've been using 98 octane whatever brand since I supercharged the car. |

A little while ago i had a fuel leak from that same hose, the hose was put on less then 2 years before the leak and i never even put ethanol fuel in the car. So maybe its just a dodgy hose that comes in those rebuild kits? |

well today i replaced a fuel pump on a 01 model hyundai accent. fuel pump just died with half a tank of petrol. asked the lady what fuel she used in the car... ta dah E10, shes been using it since it came out cause it was cheaper..... they should have a big red warning sticker on the dam bouser. |

I've been using E10 for about a year in both my cars. Its great in the Moke, runs better, and doesn't run-on when I try to stop it. Tim |

PLEASE, Don't use ethanol in a car that isn't built for it!!! If you want to use ethanol, make sure your entire fuel system can handle it. |

i think the only way to solve this is for someone to take a dive and put there hand up to test the theroy. basicly get a scraped mini with a decent motor. fill the tank with E10 and continueously run the car like that for one year on E10. if nothing happens to the mini then E10 isnt as bad as every says. but if it dies in the ass due to something the petrol did. then it will be tagged as quarentined... with the biohazard sitcker. |

And what do you use if they only have E10? That is the only reason that I filled the car with E10. The next servo was 25 minutes away and I didn't have enough fuel to make it there. Since then I have noticed a lot of servos without regular unleaded. |

Tiny you would need to do it to 2 identical minis. Before the test starts rebuild both fuel systems with identical parts then at the end compare the two systems. Comparing liters per 100km would also be a good idea, and have only one person drive the minis on opposing days too and from the same place with no extra trips in either car. You would need to fill the cars up at the same servo preferably from the same bowser, one that has a hose for E10 and a hose for regular unleaded. Also if it's a 12 month period swap the engines at the 6th month (182nd or 183rd day). Then at the end compare the fuel systems, L/100km and you should have a fair idea. |

Yes. That particular type of hose isn't compatible, it's been eaten by the ethanol. Exactly the same thing happened to my brother's car after one bellyload of that Shell 100 octane with 10% ethanol. You'll find that some brands/batches of hose are compatible, some aren't. Yours wasn't. |

bollocks - the fuel didn't cause the pump to die, it just died of old age, Hyundais aren't known for longevity and it's 7 years old E10 has been out at least 4 years now, so you reckon it took 4 years to kill the pump? I don't think so |

you`re using the crappy cheap arse fuel miser jet with push on hose fitting yeah??? get rid of those things, they`re crap!!!!!!! buy the TK6000/TK6001 genuine SU item,,, no problemo
