Go to Bias Boating, they sell a solar one that's designed for this. Boat battery, car one, whatever. |

I leave my trickle feed battery charger on the Sprite every other day. It just "tops" up the battery as required to maintain it at a serviceable state of charge. It basically simulates driving it and performs the same job as your alternator/generator. Keep in mind that it wont charge a flat battery. I check the Electolyte level on the car every week. Make sure the area is well ventilated and I cant see there being a problem. If you arent using the mini very regularly ie) once a week. Why not fit a battery cut of switch in the boot on the earth terminal? You can "disconnect" the battery and lock the boot immobilising it more so that your immobliser does. Also the loss of charge will be less in comparison to it running your immobiliser and you may not even require the charger after all. The good thing about the Xcel is that it will make you appreciate the mini when you do drive it! Matt |

the trickle one should be fine to leave connected (i'm sitting here in my supercheap uniform actually just having gotten home from work). Should be able to leave it connected, and it'll just keep topping up the voltage of the battery, so you should be fine. |
