there are a few minis around that feature what seems to be an optinal fitment trim that runs down the side of the car on the exterior. it starts off as a single silver stripe at the front and then breaks off into 2 silver stripes with a second colour in between. i think cush has it on his mini. does anyone know the name of this trim? i can seem to get any photos to work but im sure cush has it on his car. |

No idea on the name (it wasn't in any of the BMC accesorie brochures I have) but it was a dealer fitted thing and they're pretty scarce now . |

Kyoda might know, or be able to find out, as her mum-in-law, Rae, has one on her car - bought from new, so she may have some documentation?? Any idea Jules? Cheers, Watto. ![]() |

It would have been called a "Body moulding kit" I have the listing for the kits for the 1100 and 1800 but not for the 850. ![]() They could also have been an aftermarket kit. ![]() |

Hi guys, Way back in 1970, I went on my OE to Aussie as a young guy of 20 and noticed that many cars had these trims, not just BMC stuff. I am not sure if I liked them but they were very much part of the scene back then and maybe driven by Detroit styling of the '57 Ford/ Chevy/ Mopar era. Windscreen sun visors were another popular accessory of the time that I noticed. Ahhh, memories! Al |

Any idea Jules? Cheers, Watto. ![]() Just catching up with an old thread. I'm pretty sure they were called 'body moulding kit'. Rae told me that they were a 10 pound optional extra from the dealer. Rae bought a brand new spare set of mouldings not long after buying her 850 in case they were needed in the future. She still has them sitting in the original packaging. They're gold in colour as that was all that was available at the time. I think the gold ones would look great on a black Mini. ![]() ![]() Rae's 850. ![]() |
