Post subject:  Minis rallying

Do any dirt rallies exist in Australia that minis compete in? If not, I think it's about time we saw some minis going back to there roots and doing some dirt rallies agains the heavier uglier RWD beasties... I'd love to see some mini rally action.

Come to adelaide and i'll show you just how Big willy rallys around the place.

Its more fun when theres a bit of sand or dust on the tarmac too

Chris and Batters know how good-a drifter i am :)

Ignor will. Drifting a FWD car, meh, that only happens in NFS Underground!

I'm sure there are classic dirt rally's that Mini's compete in. Classic tarmac rallies on the other hand have a big Mini scene.

The closest thing we really have are motorkhanas. Minis are very competitive, and are still well represented. Motorkhanas are easier to organise cos you only need an empty carpark..... where as rallying usually needs a road or 2 blocked off.

I believe there was an off-road motorkhana held in SA last weekend, at Mt. Compass I think

I have a couple of 60km/h corners you can prove yourself on (they're traffic light intersections ) they are tried and tested by myself

First intersection.
Cross Road, heading east, turn right into Winston Avenue. 1 stobie pole on the exit. Start manouvre from the left or middle lane on Cross Road

Second intersection.
South Road, heading south, turn left onto Edward Street. 1 stobie pole on the exit too. Start from the right hand lane.

Remember..... this is illegal. Minimum of 4 demerit points on your license if caught.

i was just about to post a simliar question so i'll jsut continue this thread...

the SARC has a couplde of historic classes.. i've been thinking about getting into rallying for a while now.... yes... i'm a nobby 4wd owner.. :)

but in the mini i think it would be interestingand if not it'd be a shite load of fun....

what with all my local "practice roads"

what do you think you'd need to be competative

looking at the historics classes with escort RS2000's and the like, i think a mini mike to ok..
