Post subject: | Wheel stud spline |
I am putting in replacement wheel studs into the rear hubs. The new studs are longer because I have gone up to spacer drums. The splines appear different - the one on the left is the original one and is a finer spline while the new longer one on the right is a coarse spline. Does this matter? I would think the spline should match what is in the hub (fine spline). ![]() Regards |

doesn't matter - there isn't anything in the hub, the knurling there is just to grip the hub as the stud pulls through and to stop it turning, but it's the interference fit that does the work. pull the stud through by doing up the wheel nut with the drum on, don't try to bash it through with a hammer |

Dave, There is no science about the spline in the hub. It is produced as the stud is pressed in. Check the diamater is the same as the original and press them in. You won't have a problem. Dave |
