I was mounting up my weber onto the manifold the other day and I noticed that the axillary venturis seem a bit loose in the throttle bores.
Is this normal, I seem to remember something like they used to use ram tubes that fitted inside the throttle bores behind the venturis?
If this is so how do I get back the support such ram tubes would give?

If it makes any difference it's a weber 40 DCOE 2.

From memory, the 40 uses a tab on the aircleaner side face (or the aircleaner plate itself) to lock the venturi's in, whereas the 45 and bigger use a screw from underneath the carby to do the same thing. There is a locating slot for the 40's isn;t there?

It may be normal.

Ah ha I have done some more research, quote;
"The chokes and auxiliary venturis on the 40s push in and are retained and located by a blade spring in a long slot machined into the throttle bore. They are not firmly fixed into position until the trumpets are bolted on."

So it looks like I have to see if my air filter backing plate holds them firm.
