What sort of checklist or other document(s) do judges use to assess a vehicle in a concours event?
I'm in the process of restoring a 1970 MK II S and would like to aim for concours where practicable and cost effective. It seems to make sense to know exactly what it will be judged against and use that as a build guide, but I've yet to see one.

(I begin by saying I am no expert but have seen a lot of judging done at VMCI events so I hope this info may be of assistance)
If you haven't seen it, there are pics of the white one that came down from NSW and won the Minishow 2008 under the event pics section on here. That car is for sale for offers over $30K. I guess it depends on how far you want to go and if you actually want to drive the car on the road becasue a lot of the concourse cars never get much road time at all, if any. You could speak to some of the experts though that actually do the judging. Stephen Dalton is one name that comes to mind and he usually doesn't mind assisting with advice. I also have the details of the guy who owns the car from NSW, he stayed at my place and he would be happy to talk to you and put you onto the guy who built it for him. He is buidling a van at the moment. My mechanic Toby Tyler at mini spares and repairs in Seaford is also good with the fine points and he judges for other makes as well. He may be able to assist in this area too. Finally the VMCI may be able to provide you with the checklist they use at events. I hope this may help.
