If its been sitting for as long as you say it has, the rings have probably bonded to the pistons, normal for a A series engine, run the engine for a couple of hours the rings may unfrezze then selves from the pistons, giving it a oil change wouldn't hurt either.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

I'd try replacing the valve seals as well. When I got my Traveller it had been sitting for years and it smoked like a b@$t@rd. I had some valve seals so I threw them on and smoking cleared right up. Worth a shot pretty cheap and easy.

I rescued my MiniMatic from a garden where it had sat for 8 years.
After I got it going and gave it an oilchange or 2 it was fine, and used hardly any oil. :D

I suppose one solution is drive the bleeding thing and not let it sit there all sad and neglected for so long. Even if you just start it once in a while and show some attention would be a nice idea methinx.
