hey people i have a slight problem i can get all my gears in my car reverse is a bit hard to get into but i can get it when i try aka (two hands on gear stick) and when it is in a gear the stick moves around a lot like at least 20 cms of play and i pulled the stick out and the plastic bucket thing was fine and no warn mark on ball of stick so i thought it would be the bushes near the selectors what do u think. what could it be and if it is the bushes can u change the bushes when then engine is in the car |

yeah thats ok. the selectors mite need to be adjusted, if its hard to get in and out of gear, thats a 5 minute job. umm, just drop the 4 bolts out from where the stick goes in, and then the stick will be able to be pulled out, and then you can pull the old plastic bush out, and replace a new one, and don't forget to pack some greese in there,to keep things moving smoothly. Then just place the stick bak in, mite be hard, with the new bush, but u will get it in after some force, and then bolt the cover back up with the 4 bolts and see how slack she is. If its not much better, then you will have to adjust the selectors, and that gets a little tricky to explain over the net, lol hope this helps let me know how you go ![]() |

ok if i sit in the car and take the gear stick out the plastic bit that the gear stick sits in is fine so it must b the selectors right ????? |

most likely is, if thats the case. I can't explain how to adjust them, not over the net, its to hard, I will have to leave someone else to explain, who is good at typing, lol sorry. but yes it would be the selectors. |

Is it a rod or remote change gear box? Rod changes can/do break the cotton reel mounts & then its all over till they are replaced, check the mounts. Doogie |

can i ask a (probably blonde) question: are you lifting the gearstick to put it in reverse? I didnt know you had to lift up the gearstick when i first got a mini ![]() |

i had the same problem with a ROD change box about a month ago. turns out the owner (not me) was replacing the reverse switch, and put the new switch in too far. he then couldn't select reverse. after i adjusted the switch every thing was back to normal. |

Rodchange box = lift to get reverse (unless the plate at bottom is worn on the reverse gate). Magic wand and remote change box = bang to the right to get reverse. ![]() |

i think what my brother means is when trying to select reverse it goes across to about 1/2 across the driver seat and still fails to get reverse. I think they were thinking they had the selector rods inside the solid change aligned incorrectly.... What else can cause it to be out of wack to where it should be. I think this is why as my brother says there is a lot of play/travel in the stick Brenton |

well i pulled the gear changer out 3 times 2 day adjusting the angle of the rod thing inside it and i fixed it a little but it is still very wobbily. the movemnet is not in the shaft it is from the were the shaft bolts onto the back of the motor so probably in the selectors oh another thing at the end of the shaft were it bolts to the diff housing is there ment to be a buch on the end of the ball that hangs down ? |
