OK, maybe I bore some of youse, but I want to know what the best fix is to move to a non points distributor. What is the dux nuts? Do they burn out the rotor button? do they burn out the dizzy contacts? what coil worx best? As much as I love keeping things original, points I can live without. |

Cheap and easy is fit a Pertronix ignitor or similar to your existing dizzy. This way you keep your original advance curve (which may still be correct after 30+ years...) ![]() PM convertible mini on here, he has em cheap. Another cheap and easy way is buy a Nissan N12 Pulsar dizzy and mod that to fit, see my sticky thread in the mods forum. Note the advance curve MUST be modified to get the best results, Graham Russell in Sydney does this pretty cheap. Me, I'm running 2 Pulsar ones now, and have a Pertronix II dizzy to fit to the 1412 stroker. |

thx Doc. Have you heard of these things burning out the rotor and/or the dizzy contacts? I was told the 123 set up was a bitch to get right and even then burnt the crap outta the contact areas. |

I ran a Pertronix for years then Pulsars for the last 6 or so. Never heard of it. But there have been some dud rotors and caps (for Lucas dizzys)about recently. My Pulsar ones are fine. |

PM Tony (Convertible Mini), he sells these too. Has new ones.... ![]() Or you can trawl the wreckers, but they are harder to find now the word is out. ![]() ps. early Holden Astra (Nissan motor) is the same. P/nos for these dizzys are D4R83 or D4R85. Numbers are stamped on the side. Won't really matter which you get as the advance curve will need mods anyway. If you don't mod them, you lose performance. |
