I have just blown my third clutch in just over a year on the Moke. I know whats causing it - me - thrashing the hell out of it off the line and out of corners.

So what would you do - change your driving style or just buy another clutch and continue to drive like a hooligan?

Fix it properly. Use a Cooper S diaphragm, an AP genuine clutch plate and set it up so the diaphragm is FLAT when assembled.
See http://www.minimania.com/web/DisplayID/ ... ticleV.cfm
for how to do it properly.

Or... bring here, me fix. 8)

My driving style (was) not gentle, but I have only once killed a mini clutch.
Maybe you need let the clutch out faster & allow the tires to feel some of the pain?

yep - I used that like last time you suggested Doc  - but the suggested parts list might get a gurnsey this time.

also the weak handbrake (now fixed) and a lot of hills may have a significant contributor.

It took even me 5 years to kill the clutch in the LS, and who knows how old it was before I bought it...

No mechanical sympathy...that's the problem here!

You should go for a drive with BIAM  - he drives everything as if its a rental car.

As for his clutch technique, it's similar to Josh MiniMad's.

There are a number of different spring plates with differing strength of springing. They are identified by colour. I use a grey one (strongest) in my race car to help limit slippage.

A stronger spring plate should help your clutch last longer but will make it heavier.

I've never killed a clutch on the 1152 so ner :P ..i let the drivetrain feel the pain hence driveshafts are not my friend at the moment..

At least Josh MiniMad is putting out some decent horsepower, BIAM's moke on the other hand smokes the car cover more than the tyres. :D

BIAM - have you ever considered whether your "Goodride" tyres giving too much grip and not enough slip, hence the strain on the clutch?
