howdy all,
ok, ive got a 998 (im pretty bloody sure its a 998 anyway, either that or its a 1098) sitting on the garage floor that needs rebuilding, but heres what i want to do.

I want to turbo the engine for the round nose im building for myself, first things first, im not pressed for time at all, and i want to learn on this one, what i would like to know is if there is any reading or any sort of material that i can have a look at for new guys. Like i said, there probably will be ALOT of dumb questions coming from me, but i honestly dont care how long its gonna take me, i would however like the car done by 2011 though. If i had the money it'd be straight off to graham or greig, however i dont have that luxury.

Here's to hopefully a good run to mini knowledge (not bloody likely but it'll give you more experienced guys a chuckle thats for sure :D )

Cheers,
Robbie

i dont know if you have it already but,
i reckon this is the best place to start, has a section on turbocharging and has plenty of info on the smallblock motors.

its old information, but good information :)

can be had from the mini experience magazine.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing Robbie and I recon we need a step by step rebuild book like what you can get for Ford and Chevy V8's.
Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

been having a look at that link that super mini put up for watto;s books for sale,

there is a restoration manual for the mini, but im not sure how in depth it goes.

The only problem with the link from 74snail is that its for a 1380, not for a small bore unfortunately.

As i go along i'll take plenty of photos and do a write up after i do each thing, probably accompanied by a long list of how not to do said things

there's a lot of good info over here ---

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php

..also a recommended read is 'Maximum Boost' by Corky Bell, it covers pretty much everything you need to know about a turbocharger system.
