Post subject:  overheating still please help

hey there im a new mini owner bought mine couple of days ago its got the 998 motor and its been overheating. I put in a new thermostat and flushed the radiator no change. there are no leaks I can see either. would someone be able to tell me how to check the water pump and what else it could be.

The car also misses and has a few dead spots when I got it 3 days ago it drove fine but was just overheating. I put in a new distributor cap and spark plugs still same thing will this car need tunning but it was fine 2 days ago.

what should I check for these dead spots and miss firing.

any help will be appreciated thanks guys.

As doogie said, check your timing. It will cause it to miss and overheat.

where abouts are you located?

you'd be best off taking it to a mechanic I believe..

or at least buy/download a haynes mini manual which will step you through the basics..

Micky, if your new to minis it might pay to get someone who knows what there doing to give it a once over, check the timing, tappets, set the points etc etc.

I'd recommend Greig @ Mini Classic @ Ermington 98747211

or

Tony @ Minispares @ Padstow 97743366

It won't cost you a lot of money for a tune up.

definitely take it to a mini expert to get everything set up properly, then if you want to play, you have a good starting point to work from - any changes you do right now will be just stabs in the dark

fill in your location, and we'll be able to recommend where to take it
