Most likely as it has a lot of clubbie bits on it (and doors if I'm not mistaken , small monitor here at present so not too clear on the pics) . It's also possible he's got the year wrong and it's an earlier van with stuff from a dead clubbie but I'd say it''s a re-fronted clubbie van .

Clubman with a round nose front on it, you can see the compliance plate is pop riveted onto the drivers side inner guard.

The last roundy vans did have lift up door handles, my brother has a roundy van (mid 71 i think it is) it has a clubman style compliance plate (ie the rectangular one with the pressed up numbers not the stamped numbers - I think it is YJBXXXX - cant remember have to ask him)

I think the UK vans remained in production until 1982-83.

Funny to look back at the 60s and 70s when every trademan worth his salt rode around in a Mini van. They were literally everywhere in the Cities. Cheap to run, easy to park an surprisingly spacious inside especially with the passenger seat removed.

There were some nice souped up ones too. Anyone remember Farrell's/ Evans chop top van in Melbourne with the square headlifhts, 7 inch wide wheels and one piece rear door, hot 1100 engine and Solex carb. I think it was featured in the c1973 magazine (one off publication) callled 'Hot Minis and VWs'.

My grandfather was telling me how a former boss supplied him and another worker with a van each to cart around parts for their drag lines that they operated in the 60's.
Dragging on the bump stops all the way to work and then dragging side by side all the way home with a bottle of beer between their legs!!
They were stuffed in 12 months so they got Toyota Stouts.
I can't wait for him to find the photos.
