Has anyone done it without persuading the body with a hammer or angle grinder? |

Yes that thread was what triggered my question. I mean straight on the radiator between the radiator and the inner guard grill. |

The rover thermofans from the late 80s bolt onto the radiator grille (but on the wheel side) with no body modifications at all. Don't even need to drill holes. ![]() |

So as long as you have a good seal between the rad and the cowl on the body you're fine?? I wanna run a thermo fan on the Moke, and get rid of the engine fan. |

you dont really need to have a secure fit, the fan on the rover will suck the skin off a custard from about 50 metres and it has better vaccuum than Mick Jaggers Lips around a polly waffle, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I wanna run a thermo fan on the Moke, and get rid of the engine fan. Just make up a big rubber seal that gets clamped between the shroud and the body. As for motorkhanas, I'd be wanting to stay with the inboard factory fan so the external one isn't damaged from stones and crap. Put some flyscreen over it if thats the case. |

yup, fitted one to my sons mini. it's an 8" fan between the inner guard and the radiator. went in no worries. it is a very thin fan though, so u will need to source one of those. |

How did you attach it to the radiator?? |

An 8" fan should attach to the radiator grille without body mody. You'd just need some big washers and some long screws. |

I managed a 9" thermofan in that small space without cutting/bending/hammering - wouldn't fit much more though! You could possibly mount a bigger thermofan if you put it on the outside (wheel arch side) as it's external to the engine bay then - ie. you could fit a 10" or 12". This is my next upgrade plan (a SPAL would do nicely.) |

Poeee, I have moved my thermo fan into the space that you mention. I found that I just couldn't seal all the gaps up enough to make it full effictive. I can take photo's for you if you want but mine is a 9" one. It fits........just. |
