Post subject:  Approximately How Much?

Hey guys,

I know from reading past threads that it's a stretch to ask this question.

But here it is.

My boss has a mini van. It's not exactly for sale, but he's not looking at keeping it either. I know nothing about it. So here's what I know and we'll assume the rest.

I don't know the year yet. Or the engine size. It's pretty much in original condition. It has windows. It's a roundnose. It has some rust in the sills, but not much (apparently). It's a full car, in working order last time it was driven, which was to the warhouse some 5-10 years ago, where it has been sitting out of the wether etc since then

Knowing that it has been sitting for so long. That it was running a while ago. THat it hasn't been registered in yonks. And it's Yellow - How much would you pay approximately?

I'm just looking for round about guesses. I won't hold it against you if you tell me how much you'd pay for the above and it turns out completely different (unless you want me to...  )

Any Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Cass

Thanks Ryan.

I was thinking somewhere around that mark. Come tax time, and as long as it's in good order I think I might have my first mini.

Sounded good till I got to yellow! :D

10 years of no driving and sitting in the weather will not have done the car a favour.
I dare say its a 998 if you're lucky and has drums all round.

Personally, I'd pay no more than $1000 if the body is in good nick.
Everything else will be rooted, particularly anything made of rubber.

It's been sitting in a warehouse. Out of the weather :)

What does it mean if it has drums all round?

Drum Brakes.

The car will probably need new brake internals, even if it doesn't look like it does.

Nothing unless you want to put a 1275 in it.

Also if you can see rust in the sills then chances are they are actually really bad and if the sills are rusty then there will be rust in other places.

If it is rusty you will not get a safety certificate. This means you will need to repair and repaint, so be prepared and inspect it very well for rust.
I'd advise you to try and get the engine running before you by it to make sure it's not seized or blowing smoke.

Drum brakes are considered inferior but are fine if you don't plan on putting a 1275 in. Of course it would be nice to have disk brakes on the front but the car probably would have come with drums from the factory.
