Post subject:  Mini Security
Hi, What do you guys do for security. I dont have an alarm, and while I'm in Brisvegas, It will be outside!

I am seriously considering doing a Mr Bean! ( ie remove the steering wheel each night the nut is only hand tight as I float between the original wheel and the sports steering wheel)

I'm also thinking of removing the lead between the coil and dist.

Any other Ideas?? Its in a good neighbourhood, but I dont trust any city people..... No offence, but when I can leave the keys in ign in town here and go to the pub. I'm a bit parioniod :roll:

Even when my friend borrowed the Mini for a drive before he got back I had the Police (smelly) texting asking if I had loaned the mini!! so its fairly safe out here

yea i recommend the rotor button, always works for me, and is a piece of cake to remove / replace in a hurry :)

Maybe in a clubman!! lol, I struggle to remove the cap without moving the grill on a roundnose!

me and mates used to do it! people look at you really wierd late at night when all teh other cars have left the carpark and you walk up oopen the bonet fiddle get in the ca and drive off! had security question us a few times lol!

Even they can't get into your car, they still can take what's outside of the car. i.e. wheels, mirrors, GRILLS (CAN be really expensive these days).

Recently on the news: 2 truck drivers stopped at one side of the road at night, have some beer, took a nap.

Next morning, start the engine, put on the gas, Vroom Vroom. why the truck is not moving? Vroom Vroom again, then get off to truck and see all four wheels are gone, and truck was ONLY supported by 4 thin logs. Cops came, scratched their heads cus they can't even tow the truck. :lol:

I agree with all said, although the car can still disapear.

Nobody pays any attention to a tilt tray truck loading a car.

I'd be seriously looking at a GPS tracking device.

What about the picture of the moke in your sig with its security system sitting proudly on the bonnet? :)

Your car is just as likely to get vandalised as stolen, I'd recommend as a minimum an alarm with a tilt sensor (for knobs who like to tip minis over :evil: )

Security tips:

Don't park it in dodgy places
Get insurance to cover replacement of whole car
Buy a steering wheel lock, a good one
Buy another one to lock the steering wheel to the pedals
Battery cut off swtich (good thing about that is that it's in the boot, another lock to pick)
Ign cut off
Electric fuel pump cut off
I have heard of a hand brake lock as well?

But as said by earlier poster, if they want it, there's nothing to stop them tilt trucking it away. Park it so they can't park a tilt truck anywhere near you such as multi level car parks. Most of all GET INSURANCE

Don't take the steering wheel off each night and don't leave the nut loose. You will wear out the spline and suddenly lose steering.

I would fit a fuel cut off switch, an ignition cut off switch, a lock on the handbrake and a battery switch.

I would also never park my car on a street overnight.
