The paint supplier I got my paint from didn't have the paint code on their system, the no. on the sticker didn't help them either, so is was an eye color match. It's very close to the factory color inside the car though.

You're talking about Am Eye blue though aren't you ? The paint place will need the proper name if they are going to find it . he Leyland colour chip I have for it just lists it as "AM EYE BLUE 4200" , the 4200 may just be a leyland code though but might be usefull depending on the paint place .

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

2nd row
PEEL ME A GRAPE (metalic) 8200 , PLUM LOCO 7700 , ARIANCA TAN 7500 , BOLD AS BRASS 8300 .

no... .it's the acid the paint colour man was taking when he made up the colour names in the 70's..... someone (m1100?) gave his name a few weeks ago

am eye blue - 15572

they're fantastic colour names, I can't decide my favourite, but I think it's "Home on th'orange"

Correct name for the colour is AM EYE BLUE, as Ian said (love the colour chips).

According to the Dulux colour book their code for it is 526-15572.

Paint mix is:
Tinter / setting
05433 / 12
01012 / 335
19334 / 500

His name is/was Roman Rodburgh, and he was BMC's chief stylist (in fact, virtually their only stylist). He is also the guy who came up with Silver Birch, to rationalise the painting of wheels, switch panels and the like.

Cheers,
Watto.

According to a new book titled Leyland P76 - Anything But Average by Gavin Farmer, Rodbergh (please note corrected spelling) was responsible for the styling of the Morris 1500 and Nomad, and it was his design that was the basis for the P76 - even though it is generally accredited to Michelotti. Apparently Michelotti "cleaned up" the designs and made some minor changes, and his name was used for marketing the car (to give it a European flavour).

Rodbergh apparently got sick of the political maneuvering in Leyland and left in about 1970 to take up a position in Canada.

Gavin Farmer interviewed Rodbergh for his book, so I may have a talk to Gavin.

I agree that Rodbergh may make a good subject for TME, but his Mini connection was quite limited.

Cheers,
Watto.
