My vans developed what sounds like a tapping noise.
It sounds like a stuck hydraulic lifter in an old Holden six but the sound only emits through the exhaust, not from the engine bay, from about 2000 to 2500rpm.
I first noticed it after I checked and adjusted some valve clearances.
After hearing the new noise I rechecked the gaps in case I buggered something up but they're all OK.

Any ideas?

I had an odd tapping noise at idle, it was the vacum advance intermitently moving as I had a weber without a cross over vacum pipe, so the vacum was 'one, two, nothing nothing, one two.....' if that makes sense, just sounded like a tappet but slower
