Post subject:  floor panel shapes?
Hi everyone

im in the process of replacing my drivers side floor, and have a hit a bit of a "bump".
in the pic below is what my floor pan looks like (NOT MY CAR THOUGH)

this next pic shows the floor pan of another mini without the "bump" on the rhs of the gear shifter.

my question is: can i simply cut the bump out of my floor pan and make it shaped like the 2nd picture? I have a remote gear shifter, and it doesnt seem to require the "bump" - or does it???

P.S. i hope it's ok with you Duc that i've used your pic :)

I notice the first pic is of a RH drive car and the second of a LH Drive car... are you sure the second car doesnt have this bump mirrored on the LH side..

Second shot is a Rod-Change Clubbie isnt it ?
(Diamond shaped Pedal rubbers.......)
So no need for a "bump" .....

There are 2 different types of L and R front floor pan repair panels you can buy here from Karcraft ($41 each approx). There are pre-rod change, and rod change.

But even if you buy the `right' ones they are slightly different to the Oz cars. And panels are only 1.0mm thick (my 850's floor was 1.7).
Not a perfect fit, need a bit of trimming, but it beats the hell out of making shaped patches.... 8)

`matic floor looks very nice, better than my repaired 850 with its new pans...
Not like my 1310 `Mini-haha-Matic- which now has a bloody great patch in the flat part to pass rego last month.. :wink:

the second pic is of a post 72 mk3 uk floor pan, minis in australia never had that floor pan ( to my knowledge) coz i have 2 77 clubmans n they still have the hump u speak of, karcraft will have both patches, but i dunno y u want the uk floor ?

All Oz Minis have `the bump', which was originally for the 850 starter button. And if you buy moulded carpets out here, they have the bump, too.. :wink:

er what was the question again?

Having put 2 front pans in my 850 I'd say if rust is extensive, that's the way to go.
Best $82 I ever spent. :)

shite do you think it looks nice?
i heaped a whole lot of rust converter and etch primer and paint with a roller brush and a paint brush!
it is substandard but i hopefully i wont have to deal with rust on the floor pan for a while

every mini that i have owned:
79 clubman S
72 clubman van
66 morris van

ALL had that bump. I never realised that you could get them without that. It's a little tricky to recarpet the car.. but then again, did mini's make anything easy for us poor bastards? :wink:

Yeah the Oz Minis all had the bump coz our rod change used a different mounting bracket. The pic there without the bump is a Pommie one so naturally its different.
