Post subject:  Jan. Issue Mini world mag- DIY bmw head conv
The Jan issue has a step by step guide on how to do the BMW head conversion Interesting the way they do some items.
I wonder how it compares with the way that the blokes here are doing BMW conversions.
Then look at the info on the rb racing web site and stick a turbo with water/alcohol injection and pull 300hp like the guys there are doing on bmw bikes

you wont, those bikes are doing way over 9k in revs, and have cams gears to that spec to pull those revs to get that power. Unless you get the cams ground to suit the purpose, you wont get the power at the revs a mini engine is happy to work at......And i haven't heard of anyone that has done to r & D into cams for the BMW head to do such a thing. :wink:

It is part 1 of how mini speed machine the blocks and fit the kits. It does not quote a price for a kit Just completed eng build starting at 4500 pounds inc vat.
Specilist componets have kits[block,pistons and conversionitems] for 2399 plus vat with 16 v/v heads for another 299 pounds
I was just interested on their machining methods for the blocks incomparison to how I do the honda.

RB Racing have been around for a very very long while & have tested & tuned some of the fastest Bimmers in the States, & yes it`s their own turbo kit to fit the motobikes & yes the 318hp one for the saltflat speed runs have some very very nice engine internals,,, no std Bimmer motor there

& no the Mini engine won`t be able to cope (even if someone could make one produce 300+hp) not for very long anyways... there is a very very good calculator on the net which you punch all your engine information into & my own personal turbo race twinky shows 359hp,,, That is at 10,00rms & 25lbs boost,,,, now i don`t believe it for a minuite,,, but if it makes 259hp-ish then i`d be a happy camper :-)

There are many ways to make a Bimmer Twinky,,, keep you eye out for heaps more Twinkys fitted into minis in the future... The boys in England have planned a Bimmer Twinky dyno shootout for february

I find it interesting the ways that the guys at RB get big hp out of an eng.They seem to have alot of knowlege.
as I have found with my eng testing there is always a limit to some componet in the eng. and where do you draw the line and say that's it.
