Can you use WD40 in items such as a brake booster after overhauling it and waiting to intall it? I did one about 18 mths ago and just pulled it apart again cause I didn't like the paint job and am doing it again. I found the small amount of brake fluid had absorbed moisture and turned to jelly. Wondering what to use when I put it back together. |

What he said ^^^ ![]() Keep hydrocarbon based products like grease, oil, degreasers and WD40 etc well away. It rots the rubbers.... |

I rubber greased the arse out of all the brake components before storing them, rubber grease washed straight out with the first bleed of the brake system. I thought air might get trapped in there binding with the grease, but no problems. The complete bleed was finished in 20 minutes front to back using a jar and rubber hose. |

Once rubber greased wrap bits in baking paper. Chuck in a pack of silica gel from a medicine bottle if you have access. |
