I'm struggling to work out how to restore my wiper motor to that as new look - the untreated alloy housing and cad plated body and cover plate. Just about anything I can think of (bead blasting, painting) will wreck the look, and I doubt I can get the body cad plated with the magnets firmly and permanently fitted. It'd be good to hear from others who have been down this track, even if it's just advice on some paint which gives that "near enough" result. Thanks a lot. Matt |

I did just this. I took the case apart and was able to bead blast the ally housing with glass bead as well as plate the cover and the motor housing. The magnet can be removed. I also cleaned up the contact plate and brush and now have the first self parking wiper motor I have ever owned *sniff* it's a beautiful thing self parking wipers....*sniff* |

Cool. So I need to see about getting the ally housing glass bead blasted, and remove the magnets (& bush retainer) before taking to the local plater. How did you get the magnets and bush retainer out? Thanks - & I'd love a piccie if you want to show off your handy work... Matt |

I looked at removing the rivet and replacing it once it was plated, but found there was another way of getting it out at the time, I can't remember how (I think it involved a lot of prying)...all that was left was a retaining saddles inside the housing, this is what grips the magnets, not the rivet. |

Just a point of interest the housing and cover plate are Zinc plated, Not Cad plated, On most models the housing Is zinc plated and clear pasivated and the cover plate is zinc plated and Orange Passivated |

Thanks for that John. So what's the best a restorer can hope for - to get cad plated, or is it possible to get the zinc plating done with clear / orange passivating? A mate got some cad plating done around Canberra, but I'm not sure that this mob extend to such boutique treatments! Cheers Matt |

Cheers Matt Most Electoplaters can Zinc plate parts for You, It is cheaper than Cad, I do an exchange service on these parts if you are unable to get yours plated, however I would need the date stamped on your cover plate to make sure I have a cover plate with the date You Req, |
