Post subject: | 17 ACR Alternator |
just fitted one, does anyone know if some wires need to be cut friom regulator ,as this alternator is self regulating , minisport reccommend this, now i have a build up of white powder from bty, anyone had similar experience. i beleive its the earth wire black and the two yellow and browns joined together, electrics not my thing any help or reccommendations would b appreciated thanks |

I have a lot of powder on the negative terminal too. does this mean its wired wrong? or the alternator is stuffed? |

I've done this on my car. Connect the brown/yellow (indicator light) wire to the small spade lug on the alternator, and the 1 or 2 brown wires to the big ones. The green/blk? field wire from the regulator to the alternator is not used, this alternator is self-regulating. Just tape it up. You can leave the old regulator there to look period correct or just unplug and remove it, it won't affect the alternator and charging. |
