Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has any tricks for removing the glue and hair that's used to attach the interior trim in the car.

I dont want to use paint stripper as it will just create more work.

Hi,

Yep, it's the glue that holds the trim on the dash board and around the wheel arches.

I've recently removed insulation from under a bonnet on a non-mini.

Believe it or not, a stainless steel painters scraper is the best tool. I didn't like the idea when I was told it, but it did a great job.

might sound weird, but eucalyptus oil is the best thing to get rid of glue. End up smelling like a koala tho.

I use Shell Toluol/toluene and that takes off the softer stuff. Where it has gone rock-hard, I use a 2" Scotchbrite pad on my small air die grinder. Done gentley, it does no harm to the paint.

Turps will dissolve it, not as fast as koala farts(eucalyptus oil) however.

Ive used 3M Contact Adhesive Remover in an aerosol can. Not sure how it would go on old glue, but when I was doing my interior with fresh contact adhesive it came in very handy.

The solvents will get through it, have to keep it wet with the stuff while it works. I removed some after 8 years around my rear window.
