Post subject:  Misses when hot

After much children delivery to multiple sporting events throughout Sydney - at high speed as they were late  , the Moke developed a miss at high revs when hot.

Any suggestions?

slow down? Sorry, that's not very helpful but I couldn't resist. I had a similar problem that turned out to be a blokage in the SU's and I discovered there was no filter. It only seemed to happen in similar conditions to yours. Just a possibility to investigate.

Electric or mechanical fuel pump ? I've had a mechanical pump start to fail on stinking hot days and lead to slight fuel starvation , was just enough to cough occasionally . There's a lot of heat trapped at the back of the motor on hot days ...

I had a similar problem the other day with my chain saw. I worked out that it was old fuel. Put some fresh stuff in and it was fine.

I know this dont help but it just made me think of it.

Does it run on when you stop after it's been missing or is it behaving itself otherwise , not running hot at all or anything else ?

nup doesnt run on - generaly behaves itself - it runs a little hot but that is due to hills around here

The poor little Moke had been running up and down these all morning loaded to the rafters

any oil leaks around the electrics or plug leads, oil starts to run when it gets hot and can short things out.

There's a guy in the Sprint rounds here at Mallala with the same issue in his Cooper S faker. Been hunting it for months and can't find it. If he lets it cool between sessions - its fine. But as the laps progress, the misfire gets worse and worse..

Let us know if you do figure it out!

Check what coil is on it now, if it's a resistor coil running without one they get hot then do just that.
Try another coil, 12V.
