hello all my clubman has started 2 jump out of 2nd gear ,this only happens under hard deaccaleration is this a problam with links ,engen mounts/stays or is it something more sinister, if ihold the gearshift it does not happen . wher should i start???? |

If it is a Rod Change Gearbox the first thing I would do is check ALL the external linkages for wear, and the gear stick aswell, |

It could also be the 1-2 selector fork is worn bad, or cracked. They do get a hard time... |

The mini king is on the ball, worn engine steady bushes, engine mounts, r cotton reel mounts and the rod change sleeve & roll pins all can cause the gearbox to jump out of gear. Check & fix all these items before you start pulling the gearbox apart. Broken springs in the hubs are a common cause of jumping out of gear once you get into the gearbox. Cheers David. |

it is a rod change setup. have just been driving and have noticed that it will jump out 2nd ideling at 20kph if you hit the right bump dont know if this changes any ones reply ? il go check out links and all rubber and plastic bits thanx 4 the advice |

mine tends to jump out of fourth every now and then.. should i be checking the same things? or because its fourth gear could it be something else? |
