Worn syncros are the usual suspects, gearbox may need a freshen up.

Bad news bro, 2nd syncro will be worn, and possibly 2nd gear itself. Not too cheap. Common

If it is a Rod Change Gearbox the first thing I would do is check ALL the external linkages for wear, and the gear stick aswell,

It could also be the 1-2 selector fork is worn bad, or cracked. They do get a hard time...

The mini king is on the ball, worn engine steady bushes, engine mounts, r cotton reel mounts and the rod change sleeve & roll pins all can cause the gearbox to jump out of gear. Check & fix all these items before you start pulling the gearbox apart. Broken springs in the hubs are a common cause of jumping out of gear once you get into the gearbox.
Cheers
David.
