Is there any cure for the mini bug? I guess not otherwise there wouldn't be so many people on this board with 2 or more minis.

Speaking of which I have just got my third mini (68 Deluxe) from ebay for $610 and it's basicly complete (it's missing the grill) and maybe a couple of other bits I don't know about yet.

I am trying to work out whether I cooperize the Deluxe or restore it to original condition, I think I am a bit of a traditionalist so I am favouring the original resto so far.
I went and had a look at it before I bid on it
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4527703689&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
and although it is nothing special to look at the moment it is very complete and runs and everything so I am pretty damn happy and I have a round nose now :D :D :D so that's two clubbys and a round nose all in probably 6 - 8 months  (I am going to calm down now) and this one needs a fair bit of work so it will keep me busy for some time (bare shell restoration) and broke I imagine :D.

Does anyone have some pictures or what ever of original deluxes so that I can have a look before I decide what to do?

Very excited :D   :!: :D :D :D :D

I'm not 100% sure I just assumed it was a deluxe as I was originally after a rolling shell I didn't care as long as it had a round nose. What differentiates the Deluxe and the K (sorry ignorant of me isn't it)
Rego papers and everything said it was a deluxe...

Engine number:10YCTA87294, VIN/Chassis number:9032238 if that provides any clues

Yer, runs OK they were having problems getting fuel up so they were squirting petrol down the carbie but it ran well when doing that, they said they had been driving it around the yard until recently. Cause we couldn't drive it around I couldn't check out all mechanicals but I think it looks good.

The body has 2 or 3 small rust holes in the floor the rest is pretty solid and only surface rust, so it isn't much to look at but...

i think a full car going is worth a lot more. it sure saves a lot of running around looking for a bargain on bits and how much would you pay to build a complete mini if you buy it in bits.
not that i mind, in fact i love the hunt but it takes time and money.
Jam do you think its deluxe or K im no expert just a thought..

I am in a similiar situation..I am no help to anybody as I only just realised one of my mini's is a 1968 morris mini deluxe  The guy I got them off told me it was something else  But i can now say for certain the original colour is Snow White!

So after stripping the front end of my 850 shell to bare metal I'm not sure which one is best to do now.... Sheesh!

Which way to go... that is the hardest question :!:
You could end up like JAm and start off as only going original..then get the bug and go modded...(cooper)

do it as a deluxe with a 1275 and disks - keep the deluxe badges on it, there used to be deluxes everywhere, but they're getting fewer and fewer as people decide that they're "just deluxes". I'm a firm believer that a car either keeps the badges it left the factory with, or has none at all - don't put S badges on it

don't bother calling it anything.... get the best body and put the best bits in it... it's still a mini... except now... it's a bloody good one... :)

cooper badges are more likely to be nicked anyway...

If by Cooperize you mean upgrade to disc brakes, twin carbs and extractors etc I would definately recommend it, I did most of that to my K but I agree with MC Cush, leave the original badges on it and be proud of it as it is. Far too much is made of Coopers and Cooper S's IMO, you mini can be just as good if not better. 8)

I am over (uninformed) people asking me "Is it a Mini Cooper?" like they were the only mini's worth having.... :x

I just answer YES when I get asked that. Even with my Clubby

I think there are more 'Cooper S's on the road than Morris Mini Deluxe's now...

my mate with His clubby always gets asked if it is a "Cooper S" too

Maybe all the Deluxes are looking like the S or have badges from them.

mine is technically not a mini.... :)

it's a morris 850 :)

and if i can spend half as much on parts and insurance as someone with a Ginuwine Cooper S and still enjoy the drive....sorry... i 've stopped the flow of this sentence as it was starting to get waay to motivational.... :)

drive what you got.... if you happen to like cooper s badges, stick em on....

and if people ask you if it's a cooper s, tell 'em no.. they're overrated.... my car is just as good or better than an s....

might make "s" spec parts cheaper too ;)
