I've been a member of the above hot rod forum for a couple of years now, and it's a VERY VERY sad day for what has happened with this site. The administrator is being SUED for comments some members may have made about ALLEGEDLY improper dealings between the national director of the controlling body of Australian Street Rodding and a family member....in short, one guy didn't like what members of the forum ALLEGEDLY SUGGESTED and has decided to try and take $250,000 out of the administrators back pocket!!

Further complicating issues is that the money being used to take the legal action AND defend it (no, I am not joking) could be coming from the same body persuing the administrator. There are HUGE ramifications for free speech in this country plus the future of an individual's chosen hobby (whether it be hot rods, modifying minis, restoring classics, etc.), more specifically hot-rodding, if the person taking legal action "wins". Support for the national organisation will die (it's already happening as you will see in the thread) and maybe the organisation itself. There is a precedent for this.

So....do yourselves a favour. Have a read. Take it in and, most importantly, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY HERE (for Poee's sake!)!!!!!

hmmmm.....I had a read of the other forum thread....can't really make sense of it all....sounds like a lot of BS has been going on.

I just read that whole thread, and having never visited that site before, all I can say is that situation, as many on there said, is F**KED UP. Litigation is killing society, and causing decent people heartache for no good reason. I just hope for Poeee, Tzi and all others involved with running this forum that nothing like that ever happens to us.

I hope the members of that forum can band together and protest what's happening. There should be some sort of petition done to change the law in regards to whatever legislation lets people sue the administrators of a forum. They can't be responsible for 800 peoples opinions, and couldn't be expected to read and approve each and every one of their posts. It is ridiculous and if there's anything we can do, I for one will support it.

Many of you don't know this, but ausmini has been threatened by a certain business because of things that have been said on here. Whether the things are true or not, i've gotta be REALLY careful. Mind you, if things said are 100% the truth, then the business threatening to sue has no libel case against us (well it's not us, it's ME!).
