My books are a bit early. I believe the rod change reverse light switch is adjustable?? If so, how?

It's on a long thread (as far as I remember), just wind it in or out. It may be stuffed, they are only about $20 to replace.

Tip... have someone in the car while you're under the car adjusting it.

Dont wind it in too far as you wont be able to put it in reverse, also tuck the wire up safely out of the way so it cant be ripped out if you drive over something.

I have a similar problem, when I'm in 4th gear the reverse light comes on what can be done about this

Don't put it in 4th gear.

I would look at the adjustment on the switch, 4th is next to reverse so it may be moving too far and knocking the switch.

But the main thing with rod-change reversing lights it to check the wires. They can rub on the subframe and do silly things like not work at all or work too much.

I have an older style remote box in my clubman. Do these have a provision for a reverse switch and if so where di i fit it?

Lucas makes a switch (I think for triumph overdrive switch) that replaces the reverse lockout bolt (which is on the front of the gearbox, near the oil filter), then you add a short pushrod (1/2 inch long, 3.5 mm drill bit I think is correct?), wire the switch to ignition on power (don't want them on when your parked!), presto!

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go. Mollymoke is correct about the earlier boxes too, screws into the front of the tranny case.
