Hello all, any tips on removing paint off the body, just using paint stripper and stainless scraper at the moment, is it worth buying an orbital sander to do the job, i have been quoted $500 to have our brick shot blasted is that a good price? We have the shell on a home made pallet and wheels set up no subframes no glass all stripped off. Central Coast NSW

i wouldnt recomend sandblasting as it has a tendancy to warp mini panels.

A thick coat of industrial paint stripper, and cover it over with the plastic wrap they use to wrap shipping pallets. Peels 99% of the paint like a banana.. you'll still need a wire wheel for the tricky corners though.

where can i buy industrial paint stripper? wot do u think to media blasting the shell?

Go see what a panel shop uses, and ask them where they get it.

I've never had a shell blasted, but from everything I've heard the expertise of the operator is critical. That said, Lindsay Palmer hereabouts had a shell soda blasted recently with good results so it's horses for courses.

Someone here on ausmini used paint stripper and glad wrap, i don't know where the thread is. Maybe someone else does.
I remember this - apply the stripper (the cheap one at bunnings works well) then put glad wrap over, drink beer for 30 min then lift off paint. The pictures looked good.

A bloke at my work had about 1/2 of his clubby van steel blasted, yes the shot was tiny steel balls, and he had no warping.

i have been using paint stripper and glad wrap and its been going ok still need to spend a fair bit of time with the wire brush tho

You can always use a wirebrush on an angle grinder it works very very well and would work out cheaper than paint stripper. I usd a wire brush for mine

Make sure you have a ventalated area or a face mask if you are doing this. I did the Moke this way - slow going but the finish was good
