i havent seen one on the other dellortos out there so >
whats the G.O. with that rubber tube that connects the manafold together. I guess ^^ it has fuel through it ... however i am known to get things wrong  .

so
- essentially what s it doing there ... ( MORE POWER I HOPE)

- what happens once i remove it (if i do )...... ^^.

- if i remove it,,, do i have to retune the carb???
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lastly, is a short or long manafold better for a dellorto on a 1000cc.

if any light can be shed that'd be great.
cheers
matt

It's blocking off two vacuum ports , you'd use a vacuum port for a brake booster so it can use the manifold vacuum to ease the pressure needed on the pedal to use the brakes . Why your manifold has two is anybodies guess but iof you remove the hose and don't block the vacuum ports the engine will suck air through them and not the carb and make it run really lean which is harmful .

Ian,
It may not be blocking it off, it may also be being used as a "balance pipe".
Drmini normally runs the balance pipe as there, but also at the clutch side through a tee piece to an old Cooper S PCV valve. Graham Russell says the balance pipe idea robs power. Both have cars that have ~80hp atw, so who's right?

Either leave it there, or blank those outlets off completely so they don't leak as sports850 says.

Ian is half way there :-)

one of them is for the brake booster & the other is for a PCV system (engine breathing)

however,,, some people tend to like joining the 2 together (when not using brake booster &/or PCV system) doing this "tricks" the carb somewhat as it does tend to smooth out the idle when it`s not all set up "perfectly"

i`m not a big fan of doing it tho,,, it`s not the correct way of doing things,, each throat of a weber or dellorto or solex carb is 'meant" to be run independantly of the other ,,, it`s all to do with the inlet pulses effecting the emulsion tubes inside the carb.... but hey,,, if you wanted to get rid of it for what-ever reason, then you will need to plug both holes & then re-tune the carb idle mixtures.

Makes sense , be easier to just leave it as it is though if it's running fine .

I used to run one and it's fine. Now I don't and it's fine. Matt is right on the money...

I run a balance pipe because I use the Cooper S/1100S Smiths PCV valve into the Weber manifold (no smelly clogged up Bling filters for me), :D and if I put the PCV connection into one port only, it weakens the idle mixture so I have to richen that side up lots.
I find it runs fine and idles better with this small balance pipe (86.6HP ATW ain't shabby for a N/A road motor). 8)

so it realy just smoothes out the idle.... as not using brake booster &/or PCV system.... tricky:D

ahh i might have a play  ( satisfy my curiosity ) lol. ill film it all so i can get it back if i dont like whateva happens.

thank s to all
