Is it worth paying extra (60% more or $12 extra) to run SS fuel line (5/16") in a Mini?

not really, but $12 isn't much... but maybe it'll be hard to bend?

Not Sure QLD Tpt will like you running SS as a fuel line.
from memory, it has to be either heavy wall copper or steel not SS

Is this for Prettiness or rustless reasons?

Forty years out of standard steel tube isn't a bad outcome in my view...

Is S/S more brittle than steel when vibration is involved?

I have had a few vehicles with plastic fuel line, so I doubt that S/S would be a problem.
But I would go with steel pipe.

Doesn't make it legal for you to fit.
May find they have had to fit SS ( not sure why) to get compliance on their Kit vehicles
