Gday all, more questions, we have removed our roof and having real trouble removing the remainder of the flange attached to the car, we have purchased a spot weld drill(handy tool) but it appears to have been spot welded every 10-20mm, really hard to get a roll on so it is has become quite a job, its looking a bit messy and i am affraid of turning it into a dogs breakfast! Any advice? |

Grab a decent grinder & rip into the rest of it,,, Just that layer tho,,, don`t go any deeper than the lip you need gone (if you know what i mean) it`s a ning nong of a job no matter which way you do it,,, but you`re half way across the english chanel ,,, no point turning back now ![]() |

As Matt suggested, use a angle grinder, but instead of using a grinding wheel on it, try a "flap disc". You can buy them from most hardware ie bunnings. They will not gouge the metal like a grinding wheel and grind the area where spot welds are . It will remove metal at weld point and then peel the strip off. I never use grinding wheels when doing panel work, the flap discs are a lot more friendly on thin metal |

I tried to use a flap disk to smooth down the welds on a piece I repaired on a panel, and found the flap disk just thinned out everything - the metal around the repair was about .002" thick ![]() |
