What sort of price do those nice bolt in cages go for with the single bar over the rear of the seats? Where is the best place to buy? Mini places, get one made etc etc? Any info appreciated, Big Dan[/i] |

Hey, iv got one like that, its half alloy, bolts to the parcel shelf and behind the front seats,2 bars goto the parcel shelf, one goes around the inside of the car with a big cross bar from the passengers head to the drivers floor looks tops but cops dont like with back seats ![]() i think the going price for em is $200-$250 for a polished one, mine was CAMS approved in its day |

Alloy cages are no longer CAMS legal but you can still buy them and they look neat. Cross bars are n longer legal as far as I know. Bond Roll bars at Regents park do a nice four point (half cage) in alloy without cross bar for about $350 I think. This has two bars that go to rear shelf. Must get Engineers certificate cause if you have an accident with a Roll cage installed you will be toast. Engineer will re class the car as 2 seat and some will make you remove rear seat. |

Thier is a trick with installing steel role cages.... A nice strong piece of rope..A jimmy bar and start twisting..now with the Jimmy bar you have to have a hole at one end so you can tie it off. The idea is to place the jimmy bar inbetween the rope's which is tied of around each of the bars and use the bar to twist both legs in and tie off...Warning if you let go of the bar..Very Dangerus...it will go flying Prior to this take out all seats and steering wheel and fit |

I have a Bond Roll bars alloy half cage sitting in the shed. It is very easy to fit in an early mini (low back seats) and would be a bit harder with late seats. You just fold the seats foward and poke the bar through the door and slip it into the rear pockets and then stand it up. Then you add the rear supports and it is done! I know of a few cars that have been engineered as a two seat car because of the bar but they still have the rear seat. If you want to make a bar you buy the right grade of pipe and get it bent by a very good exhaust bloke (not a midas or similar) If you just want a bar for show use exhaust pipe! If you want a bar for motorsport get a proper steel all welded bar. (It bolts to the floor but all the bars are welded to each other.) |
