well i'm driving down to wollongong over the weekend

saturday i'm driving 2 hours to mullumbimby. having my mini checked over and oil changed by my mechanic.

sunday i'm driving the 6 hours down to a house off the highway on a dirt road i've never been to, 20km north of kempsy.

monday i'm driving the 7 hours down to wollongong to try and find a place to stay. (if you have a place to stay please find my thread in the general discussion area)

so how far do you think i'll get before i break down?
i've updated my nrma/racq so i get 100km free towning and a whole lot of other stuff, accomodation, car rental, and stuff.

and if any-one would be so kind as to offer assistance in there local area. for the days i'm due to come through. please pm me your area and your number, thank you very much.

it shal be a fun drive, i'm tihnking of lashing out and buying a $30 radio for the car. the sound of the engine and the hot days put me to sleep. so keep an eye out for molly on the side of the highway somewhere.

(now let all the saftey instructions flood in)

I think Monday due to driving on the dirt roads (twice) and all the electrical connections vibrating off thier terminals. If there was a smooth sailing option with no break downs i would have selected that.

people are more likely to be able to help you over the weekend or out of work hours - for example I could possibly cover from Central coast to Wollongong as you pass through Sydney if on the Sunday, but not Monday itself.

I have a car trailer if need be (although it is stored 20-45 mins from my house depending on which house my friend has it stored at presently).

I'll PM my number in case you decide to do that bit on Sunday.

Ah, you'll be right if the mechanic gives you the OK.

Just carry 4L of water to be on the safe side.

Sorry we won't be around Andrew but if you get stuck around here give me a yell and I'll find someone local to give you a hand .

As for spares etc , water as Mike said , oil , radiator hoses , fanbelt and WORKSHOP MANUAL so if Molly does have a problem in a non mini friendly place you can show the mechanic what they need to do .

Well when I picked up NAV in Coffs Harbour I got to just this side of Kempsey before the alternator seized.
But otherwise I got all the way to sydney before I lost the clutch and the solenoid for the starter packed it in. I arrived in Canberra 8hrs later than scheduled.

I made the drive up from Sydney to Brisbane in a 76 datsun 1200 ute, had to change a alternator in Kempsy maccas but i knew it was on the way out so i had one with me... And more recently took a drive up from Sydney to Brissy again in a 97 pulsar and it made it to Kempsy and cracked the head... Then had to get the old man to come down with a trailer and pick us up, frig that was expensive

Hope you make it all the way with out any hassles... Just give her a rest for a bit everytime you have to fill up
