Had a guy I know come around on the weekend to see how my mini was going. I wasn't actually home but my old man was, so they had a little bit of a chat about minis and crap. Turns out this guy reckons when you put on 13" wheels you run into problems in the back with the wheels hiting the radius arm. So is this true or is it just a load of crap? I have never heard of this kind of problem before. My car is a 1976 Clubman S if that makes any difference and I was only puting on 13x6. So is there any problems related to puting on bigger wheels in the back end? anything at all?

Todd

Very true,
I had 13" wheel on my clubman for a few very short minutes, I actually didnt have a problem with them at the front, But the back wheels hit the arms, I dont think u would have such a problem if u had very low profile tyres, these were not low enough obversary.
I stuck with the 12"

all depends on the tyres you run. They must be under 55 profile to fit. Ive got 175,50,13 on mine and there is at least an inch clearance on the arms. there are plenty of low profile 13's out there now, so you shouldnt have a problem.

yeah will have 175x50x13. I wanted to try and find some 45 but as of yet I have had no luck, just wanted the 45 to give even more room. Was the first time I had ever heard of that problem so I thought I better get some more info on it, so thanks for your help.

Don't know if they would fit on 6" but there are 195 x 45 x 13 Dunlop tyres around. Also the Continental that someone else on the forum spoke of. They seem to be much cheaper than the Dunlop.

Friends of mine are running the 195's on the Performance Superlite 7".

Mutant. Would love to see those 195's. I used to have the 175/50's and good grief, could they take a corner... they'd also follow every groove in the road but you can't have everything.
I'm going to stick to the 12' this time. The 13's were great but I never had the suspension for it. Saw a post earlier (yes, all these posts today are from work. Sucks working on a public holiday but if the WA Gov would catch up and it's been really quiet) that said 12x6 was hard to find. Have seen in my travels 12x5 and 12x5.5. Am open to comments as wheel/tyre combos are not my strong point.
Oh, and with the 13's, I think you have to make sure your hubs are schmicko else you keep doing what I did.. chewing through bearings at an alarming rate.. mind you, the whole thing WAS set up by NBMS
